The Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources’ Boater Education regulation requires anyone from the ages of 12 to 17, who wishes to operate a motorboat with a motor of greater than 10 horsepower by their self, to have completed and passed the Boating Education Course. The certificate must be carried on person while operating the vessel. For adults who receive the certificate, it may lower the cost of their boat insurance at most insurance companies. Participants must be at least (12) years of age to take this course.
